Many great pyrenees are dominant or aggressive toward dogs they don't know. some great pyrenees are not safe with cats. i know personally of two; separate tragic incidents where a great pyrenees reached through the fence and killed a small dog who was simply walking past the pyr's yard. heavy shedding. great pyrenees shed a lot.. When we get great pyrenees in rescue, there are a few recurring reasons for surrender—all of which are breed traits.. as livestock guardian dogs, they don’t behave like most breeds. they bark, they dig, they roam, and they’re very independent. i love great pyrenees—that’s no secret.. It might be a shedding season as it's getting quite warm. great pyrenees shed all year round and they're known to be heavy shedders so maybe it's just a normal amount. from friends of mine, they've said that if you own a great pyrenees you can never wear black clothes again!.
